Update

First of all...OH MY GOSH! Thank you so much everyone for your kind words and well wishes! I am just totally overwhelmed by all the caring and thoughtful people out there! Warning; those of you who have offered help may just be getting a call from me! Just so you know!

I went to the hospital again last night to get another shot and had to be on the monitor for awhile. Thankfully, the baby passed with flying colors. He is perfect. He is very active. They had me doing kick counts, and it was easy. He seems to be a very healthy boy!

Tomorrow I will have an ultrasound to see what is going on. I really hope it's nothing serious. Everything I've read about of course is making me worried, but I'm just anxious to see my midwife who KNOWS me and this pregnancy, and I feel confident I can trust whatever she prescribes for me.

On a side note, I had a little melt down last night. I just got scared. I'm glad I have Nate to help me keep my perspective. He reminded me how blessed I was, and that the best thing to do is just be grateful and have faith. He is so right. And anyway, he has taken such good care of me this weekend....serving me food in bed, taking care of the girls, and keeping the house tidy. AND never once have I heard him complain! I only see him smiling and he's constantly asking if there is anything else I need. It really makes me feel better about things to see him so relaxed....although it's entirely possible he's just hiding the stress to make me feel better!

You know what else is weird? Bed rest sounds fun until you actually have to do it. I'm thinking a weekend of movie watching...but what you don't realize is that you are really TOTALLY dependent on someone else. If I think to myself, "I need some chapstick," I can't just stand up and go grab some out of my purse. I have to wait for Nate to get it for me! So I try to wait until I really need something, then ask for a bunch of things at once. Also, have you ever tried doing your hair laying down? It's impossible! Thank goodness they said I can get up and shower, but even then they said to make it quick. So I like had to shower, lay down a while, dry my hair, lay back down...ugh! Quite the process. I'm SO hoping I'm not doomed to laying down for another 6 weeks!

I admire ALL THOSE WOMEN out there who have had to be on bed rest...especially STRICT bed rest! At least I have bathroom privileges! My own mother went through this with some of her pregnancies. I have a WHOLE new respect for her. She actually had to do it on HER third pregnancy as well, about the same time, so she was totally empathizing with me! If I end up on total bed rest, at least I definitely will not have been the first one to go through it, there are a lot of people out there who will relate!

I think you are allowed a bit of a melt down. There are pros and cons to being a nurse, that double edged sword of knowing too much, seeing too much so the imagination can go crazy.

Allow yourself to feel what you need to feel, if anyone is critical of that they will need a wake up call.

Sarah, I'm SO sorry that things aren't going as planned! It sounds like a melt down is totally understandable... and most people would be having a major one right about now! Let us know if we can do anything for you. Hope you get some good news for you and the little guy soon!
